I'm not great about writing in it consistently, but I do try every couple of months to sit down and record the "living in the moment" moments. I say the journals are for the kids, but really, they're for me. I don't know that I'll ever be able to hand them over because I love going through them now and then to remember these little Polaroids that I've somehow let slip away although I thought I never would.Bobbiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01846665855246867179noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-419451516926715648.post-70578239983731890982010-03-05T14:18:40.361-06:002010-03-05T14:18:40.361-06:00I sometimes worry that my kids don't see enoug...I sometimes worry that my kids don't see enough of my softer side, but I think you're right - I don't think they NEED that. (And frankly it would scare the crap out of them). I'm so conflicted about the busy-ness of being a mom of young kids and trying to enjoy it. I know that I will miss this time later, even though it's hard to imagine missing this craziness. I'm so haunted by Anna Quindlen's quote (i'm sure you're familiar but just for the record):<br />"The biggest mistake I made is the one that most of us make while doing this. I did not live in the moment enough. This is particularly clear now that the moment is gone, captured only in photographs. There is one picture of the three of them, sitting in the grass on a quilt in the shadow of the swing set on a summer day, ages 6, 4 and 1. And I wish I could remember what we ate, and what we talked about, and how they sounded, and how they looked when they slept that night. I wish I had not been in such a hurry to get on to the next thing: dinner, bath, book, bed. I wish I had treasured the doing a little more and the getting it done a little less."AngryBakerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17353130759155569342noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-419451516926715648.post-76552819351379381972010-03-05T00:06:33.476-06:002010-03-05T00:06:33.476-06:00I'm so glad you write these.
